OTHER CELEBRATIONS

October 22, 2025, marks the hundredth anniversary of Robert Rauschenberg’s birth and the worldwide celebration of his centennial. We are thrilled to be involved with many of these events. The exhibition Five Friends: John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly opens October 3rd at Museum Ludwig. And later in November (14th and 15th) The Art Gallery of Ontario presents performance excerpts of Cunningham works designed by Rauschenberg. The Trisha Brown Dance Company with the Merce Cunningham Trust will tour Dancing with Bob: Raschenberg, Brown & Cunningham Onstage this fall and into next year. Get your tickets here.

David Behrman, composer and longtime Cunningham collaborator is being celebrated this fall by Issue Project Room with a Gala and series of events. Behrman composed the music for Cunningham's Walkaround Time (1968), Changing Steps (1973), Rebus (1975), Pictures (1984), and Eyespace (40’) (2007).

Summer Performance Highlight

The annual Vail Dance Festival continues to be a star-studded home for Merce’s work. In August, newly appointed Juilliard Dance Division Director Melissa Toogood (2008-2011) staged an excerpt from Signals (1970) and performed a solo from Loose Time (2002).
